post Greeley has live traffic cams

August 8th, 2007

Filed under: City of Greeley, Greeley Website — Bob @ 2:55 pm

The city of Greeley now has two Real-Time traffic cams so we can check traffic before we leave the house.

Of course, “Real-Time” doesn’t appear to be accurate. I viewed them, they seem to be on a ten minute 1/2 hour cycle.

Pretty good for a town that can’t afford to pay keep more than one month of City Council minutes on the website.

One has to wonder, is this where the new sales tax money is going to go? Into trinkets like this?

  1. Actually the site didn’t cost the taxpayers anything but the employee salary who built it. I think your animosity is misplaced as far as blaming city employees for “trinkets like this”. You’re welcome BTW.

  2. Actually, the site costs taxpayers bandwidth, cameras, installation, upkeep, plus the employee salary who built it.

I’m not sure it’s really ‘animosity’, I would just like to see more productive use of the taxpayers money. Not blaming anybody, especially city employees, just trying to encourage our city government to be fiscally responsible.
