post Landlord Registration

March 14th, 2007

Filed under: Greeley City Council — Bob @ 12:57 pm

During yesterday’s Town Meeting, local resident, Nancy Menard complained about lack of ‘code enforcement’ in her neighborhood.

Nancy’s comments prompted this response from Councilman Don Feldhaus

Feldhaus said in April, the council will discuss new ways the city can deal with absentee landlords who don’t care about the property they rent out. One option includes requiring all landlords to register with the city.

So the best solution is to have landlords ‘register’ like sex offenders? There is no mention of which code is being enforced, or why the city would want landlords to register. Private property ownership is a matter of public record, why is additional beauracy needed, can’t the city just lookup the County records?

post 1/2 Million Dollar sign done

January 4th, 2007

Filed under: Greeley City Council — Bob @ 4:26 pm

After months (or at least what seemed like months) of work the new Greeley sign out at the U.S. 34 Bypass and U.S. 34 Business (10th Street) interchange is complete. Price tag, a cool $535,000.

Now all of those commuters to Ft. Morgan, Brush, Akron and Sterling will know when they get to Greeley.

Now the only question is, how long before somebody vandalizes it (and how much with the sandblasting cost)?

post Bill Hoff has something to say

November 27th, 2006

Filed under: Greeley City Council — Bob @ 8:55 pm

Looks like Bill Hoff is trying to get the word out about his Ward I Greeley City Council candidacy. He (or someone using his name) posted two prewritten comments in two separate locations on this site.

I’m going to delete two of them, the other two are comments on the Recall election set for December 12 post.

Bill, If you read this post, I would suggest caution in this type of activity. Canned responses like this are often regarded as spam. If you would like to write an original post for our site I would be happy to let you publish it verbatim as a guest blogger.
